Kinesiology is a technique which is best suited for those who are otherwise healthy, but recently have been feeling out of balance. Kinesiology is also useful for musculoskeletal complaints that are not responding well to other standard therapies. Personal development is also one very useful application of the technique.
Kinesiology when effective, is the most efficient and cost-effective method to move through various aspects of health including structural body issues (congested organs, musculoskeletal imbalance), dietary and environmental toxicity issues, emotional and energetic blocks within one session.
The process is guided by the body's muscle response. The practitioner checks the responses for congruence with the client's situation.
Kinesiology can be used to treat almost any condition, but it appears best suited for the following scenarios - particularly when these have developed in recent months and the cause is unclear.
Only 10% of human thinking is actually conscious. The rest is occurring subconsciously and this influences our conscious thinking. The short-circuits or blocks in the subconscious thinking are products of our background and earlier life experience. These negative patterns can be identified through kinesiology and help the individual understand themselves better. This in turn makes personal development an easier task.
Kinesiology relies on muscle testing. The strength of body muscles is challenged by the practitioner. Abnormal muscle responses are then investigated and resolved in order of what appears to be the body's priorities.
The method of investigation is largely intuitive - it relies on the muscle responses of the client's body to guide the process.
About 20% to 30% of individuals will simply not receive any meaningful response to kinesiology. The reason for this is not clear.
Kinesiology is also not suitable when the individual has strong feelings or beliefs about an issue. These beliefs can scramble the muscle responses.
Lastly, kinesiology is not always useful for dealing with physical symptoms that developed after major emotional or mental trauma. In these cases a homeopathic session is advisable.
The modern methods of kinesiology were developed by the USA based chiropractor Dr George Goodheart and his associates. This remarkable team included chiropractic and naturopathic physicians of which only Dr Sheldon Deal is still present with us today.
Initially the association between muscles, organs, lymphatic and vascular reflex points were discovered. Then over the course of the last five decades, the association with meridians and acupressure points, nutritional status, heavy metal toxicity and emotions were also discovered.
The methods used nowadays in kinesiology may at times seem similar to some chiropractic techniques, however the main difference is that kinesiology is guided by muscle responses, whereas chiropractic is guided by astute physical examination.
